We acted for the family of a baby who died at only a few hours old after midwifery and obstetric staff failed to diagnose signs during labour that the baby was in distress. We successfully settled the claim and the baby’s parents, sibling and grandparents were awarded compensation.

We acted for the father, stepmother, executor, son, partner, sisters and stepbrother of a man killed when he was struck by a car crossing the road. We successfully argued that the driver failed to keep a proper lookout and to take reasonable steps to avoid the collision.

We acted for a gentleman after his partner died as a result of negligence by hospital staff. A junior doctor failed to admit the patient to hospital and as a result she died due to an ischaemic bowel. The Health Board disputed negligence but the court accepted the evidence of our client and experts and awarded compensation.

Our client suffered a hand injury after a fall and attended hospital for treatment. She was referred to another Health Board for surgery but there was no follow up which delayed her post-surgical physiotherapy treatment. As a result of the delay, our client suffered permanent damage to her dominant hand impacting her ability to work. We achieved settlement after extensive negotiations.

£725,000

During labour and delivery our client’s shoulder became stuck (shoulder dystocia) resulting in significant stretching and damage to the nerves in his neck and shoulder (Erb’s palsy / brachial plexus injury). The Health Board defended the action but the court accepted our expert evidence and legal argument that the injury was due to negligence on the part of the treating midwife.
